Top Five Tuesday: January Favorites!

I'm linking up with Rachel over at Just Peachy for another Top Five Tuesday link-up! This week the theme is January favorites. Needless to say, it was very difficult for me to narrow down my list to just five but somehow I managed. Read on to see the top five things that made the cut!

1. Beauty and the Beast in 3D
I was so excited to see my second favorite fairy tale in theaters again. I looooved it! I ended up going a few weekends ago for a girls night out... there was no chance that the hubby was going with me! haha Now, if they'll just release Cinderella in 3D, this would be one very happy girl!

2. Damask Tumbler
As a teacher, I find that I always need to have a beverage close by. I never know when my throat will suddenly go dry or when a coughing fit will randomly emerge. So when I saw these cute monogrammed, damask tumblers with lids and a straw in our school colors, I purchased one for each of my grade-level team. I knew it was something they could use daily and  it was a gift I'd be willing to receive (hint: I never give a gift I would not be willing to get!). I don't know what I was thinking but I did not purchase myself one. I guess while standing in line I rationalized that I had numerous other tumblers at home so I did not need to add another to my collection. However, when school resumed in January and my three teammates sipped their cold drinks at lunch with their cute cups, I just couldn't stand it so I went out immediately and bought myself one! I am so thankful that I did because I use it almost every day. It's so much easier to deal with than my other tumblers. It's amazing the difference a simple plastic straw can make!

3. Maybelline Eyeshadow Quad
I tried one of Maybelline's eyeshadow quads at the end of last year and fell in love with it. Since the beginning of the year, I've accumulated several different quad packs. I love mixing and matching the colors. I wear Chai Latte or Designer Chocolates on a daily basis. I also have the Plum Smokes and Natural Smokes that I wear for nights that I go out! If you haven't tried this product, you definitely should! I put my make up on at 6am and  no matter how many times I wipe my eyes during the day, my eyeshadow is still there at 9:00 at night!

4. The Bachelor
I am in love with the Bachelor this season! Every Monday night Brittni and I get together and have a girls night while the hubby is working. It makes my Mondays so much more bearable. I have to admit though that I don't find this season's bachelor attractive but I do love watching the women pine over him. The drama that ensues on each episode always creates a good laugh!

5. Daily OOTD's
I have to admit, I'm a sucker for Outfits of the Day. I love looking at everyone's posts and getting ideas for my next outfit. Don't get me wrong, I can create my own look but sometimes, you just feel like you need a little inspiration! I'm loving that Rachel has began a weekly OOTD link-up. It makes it so much easier to get ideas than trying to flip through the hundreds of fashion pins on Pinterest... which I'm guilty of doing :X

Speaking of Rachel, be sure to link up with her and check out her awesome give-away. I'm pretty excited about the hair-ties that don't cause creases in your hair. I seriously added them to my grocery list... just don't tell the husband that!!! (:

Weekend Recap

WHAT.A.WEEKEND!

This was most definitely a weekend to remember! I can't remember a weekend this great since... well, I don't remember. haha.

Friday night, as usual, the group and I all made plans to go to dinner. Since Emily and Daniel had a babysitter, we decided to do something different and not eat in Reidsville. Instead, Brooke suggested that we go to Mellow Mushroom in Burlington. I'm not a real fan of Mellow Mushroom but I wanted to go with the group so Kevin and I made our way there and met everyone. I had a hard time figuring out what to order because I don't like their red sauce and it seems that everything you order there comes with it. After deliberating for ten minutes, I finally agreed to split a steak and cheese calzone with the hubby and get an order of their delicious, mouth-watering cheesy bread. As soon as the bread was delivered, Kev and I devoured it within five minutes... no lie! We were told it would be a little while before our food came out because they had a big crowd for a Friday night and they offered to see if anyone wanted a drink. Brooke had had a rough week and so without hesitating, she ordered a Purple Haze. I had never heard of it and asked her what it tasted like. She didn't really know how to explain it so  when the drink was delivered she told me to try it. I did and let me tell you what it tastes like... pure HEAVEN! I'm not much of a drinker because there have been alot of alcoholics in my family so its sort of a turn off for me. But that was one drink I could drink. It contained a bit of vodka, razzmattaz, Sprite, and sour mix. It was awesome.. not to mention that it was pretty too! Here's a picture of one!
Bryan also ordered Wood Chuck's Hard Cider. I'd never had it before so I stole a swig. I have to admit... it really does take just like Apple Cider! It's amazing how people can come up with these drinks!  Anyways, enough with the alcohol, when our food finally came to the table, I was a little hesitant about my calzone but when I bit into it... O.M.G! It was fabulous and probably one of the best ones I have ever eaten. I was thoroughly impressed. After we all ate we sat around talking for at least another hour. We finally got out of Mellow Mushroom around 10... 2 and a half hours after we arrived! By the time we got home, I was exhausted!

Saturday I did something I have not done since I was in middle school. I slept till....11:45! Holy cow! I remember waking up at 8:16 and thinking....well, I'm gonna lay down just a few minutes longer. When I woke up again and rolled over, my clock said 11:42! I jumped out of bed QUICK. I couldn't believe it. But then again, after the rough week I had, no wonder my body was so exhausted.

When I finally got myself together, I decided to meet my friend Brittni at the tanning place to get our tan on. After that we decided we'd head to the Jaycee Trail to walk since it was such a nice day out. We ended up walking a couple of miles! I was proud of myself... I haven't walked in far too long. I'm thinking of making it part of my daily routine...not sure how I'm going to make it fit though... we'll see. Anyways, after walking, I was starving so I met the hubstir at Monterreys. I'd been craving Mexican all week so I was dying to go! They make the best Mexican food there is everrrr! While there the brother-in-law showed up with a friend so they ended up joining us. Let me just say, lunch with three dudes and one girl is quite funny.

By the time we ended up getting home, it was time for the hubby to get ready for work :( I hate when he works weekends but at least this Saturday I had plans. After he left for work, I got myself ready and met Brittni again to get our nails done. For the last two years I've had my nails done every two weeks and I decided this year to try to not get them done and save money.. it didn't last. I can't stand looking at my plain nails! Following our nail appointment, we headed to the Vault for dinner at 8. A friend of ours was playing there that night from 10-2am so we wanted to make sure we snagged a good seat. By 11, pretty much all of our friends and part of the group were there. We all sat listening to the music, swapping stories, laughing at each other's jokes, and having a good time. We didn't leave till after 1 and we probably wouldn't have left then if it hadn't have been that two fights started to break out from people who had had a little too much to drink. I don't know about you but once this happens, I get pretty uncomfortable. You never know what drunk people will do!

It's now Sunday and I hate to admit that I did not make it to church this morning :X. I woke up in time but I wasn't feeling that great so I decided not to go. I hate not going because I feel like I need that weekly rejuvenation. But thankfully, Mt. Zion Wesleyan  (Kevin's uncle's church where we often go) streams their services and puts them online so I can at least get to listen to a good message!

As soon as Kevin gets up we're going to head to Mom and Dad's for our weekly Sunday lunch with the family. Mom is fixing Chicken Desiree with vegetables. Yummy! Then Kevin and I are going to head to Danville for a date night. We're planning on going to see Man on a Ledge and do dinner at Olive Garden, Applebees, or Outback. Has anyone seen Man on a Ledge? If so, please give me feedback. I always hate spending lots of money to see a movie and then it suck!

Oh well, I'll update you guys on how our night goes. I hope you ladies have a fabulous day and had a great weekend as well! Now, I'm off to go get ready!

UNC vs NC State game!

When my husband and I began dating three years ago, we made a pact to go to a Carolina Tarheel basketball game each year. My husband grew up in a traditional Carolina family. They are avid supporters of the Tarheels. You would never question their team commitments considering my brother-in-law's room is entirely Carolina blue and white with everything Tarheel licenced related and my father-in-law is never seen in public without sporting a Carolina Tarheel t-shirt. I mean seriously, even his dress clothes are Carolina blue! However, I was raised in a house divided. Many of my family members attended NC State (even my brother!) but many of the people in our family pull for Carolina. Since I wasn't raised in a truely committed family, I've always rode the fence in which teams I pull for. However, I only pull for NC State and UNC. So when my husband went to purchase tickets for a game for this year, there was no question as to which game we would be attending. It was only fair that we attend the UNC vs NC State game so that I could pull for either team!!!

So yesterday, my husband, brother-in-law, father-in-law, and myself made our way to Chapel Hill. As a rule, I typically pull for NC State in football and Carolina in basketball, so I went sporting my Carolina blue and white (see OOTD Catch Up post for what I wore). Here are some of the pictures we snapped from the game!

The hubby & I on the Tarheel express! If you ever go to a Carolina game, this is the way to go. Take Jones Ferry Rd. and turn into University Lake. You can pay $5 per person and take the bus. They'll take you straight to the stadium and pick you right up after the game. You don't have to fight the traffic and it's super easy to get in and out of!

We got free towels at the game! Who doesn't love free stuff?!

I had to share the following Youtube videos as well. I don't know how many of you actually watched the game but with only a second left before half-time, a player from NC State shot the ball 80-ft from the goal and the ball went in. The funny thing was most people weren't paying attention and never noticed. But I saw it and it was beautiful!!! Here's the clip!

I have to share this video as well. Each game, this video is played. Sometimes it comes before the game begins and sometimes it comes before halftime. Either way, I look forward to seeing it. It's great to see all the past and present famous Carolinian's!

OOTD: Monday & Tuesday

So this is what I wore yesterday. My husband called me yesterday morning and woke me up with his daily forecast (he's so funny!). He informed me it was cold and wet so I needed to bundle up! So here's what I decided on...

I love my earrings so I had to share a close up!

And this is the outfit I'm sporting today!

Though at the last minute I decided to add the vest for a little extra warmth!

And for the details...
Gold hoops
 Purple & brown bracelets
They may not be in style, but they are my most comfortable brown shoes!

Oh Monday... Why must you come so soon?

Well this quote pretty much summed up my day! It would be safe to say that I definitely did NOT want to go to work this morning. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my amazing co-workers and my fabulous class of third graders. But the weekend just flew by extremely too fast and I felt like I needed more ME time. Not to mention I need time to clean my house, do several loads of laundry, give my little guy a bath, etc. But regardless, I got my act together and got ready for work; all the while I reminded myself that Friday was just FIVE days away!

Once I got to work, my Monday blues faded and my day went pretty good. The kiddos were off the wall though from the lack of outdoor recess but we made the most of it! Hint of advice... Four Corners is the BEST indoor recess game! haha

After work I met the hubby at my parent's house and we hung out there until he had to go to work. I feel like I barely saw him though but thankfully I will see him tomorrow for quite a while! Usually if I don't see him for long it bothers me but with it being Monday night I have plans so I didn't think much about it. Each Monday, Brittni and I get dinner and curl up in front of the tv and watch the Bachelor. Speaking of which, I love these two ladies this season!

Lindzi

Kacie

And these two ladies... ugh! Don't even get me started! They are just plain evil! And I hate to say that about Blakely considering she's from my state but seriously?! How can you be so mean?

Courtney

Blakely

Well the Bachelor is about to come on so I must go! Talk to you ladies tomorrow!

Weekend Recap

It is so hard to believe that another weekend has come and almost gone. The older I get the faster they really do fly. Friday afternoon I stayed at school later than usual and tried to mentally and physically prepare myself for this coming school week. After I left work I went to Belk to check out what kind of sales they were having. I ended up scoring this awesome gray jacket for $20!

Love the collar! (minus Rimy's hair!)

& I love the tailoring on the back!

After I left Belks, I went to see the amazing Crystal Williams at Midtown Salon and Spa and got a much needed hair cut! I have bangs again and am sooo excited! By the time my hair appointment was over, it was time for dinner. Each Friday night, Kevin and I go to dinner with the group. This week Brooke suggested we try something different since we always go to the same places. So we decided to try out Mivano's, a new Italian restaurant in our small town. It was absolutely delicious and relatively inexpensive. If you live in the area, I would definitely recommend you trying it out!

Saturday I woke up with a to-do list the size of Texas. Yet with the rainy day we had, I found it hard to get motivated to do anything. The only thing I accomplished was doing a bit of laundry and taking out the trash! Instead, the hubby and I spent all day laying in bed watching one Lifetime movie after another. Finally around 4:30 I decided to get up and get myself ready. Since Kevin had to work Saturday night, I planned a girls night out with Brittni and Mandy. They met at my house around 5 and we headed to the mall and did a little window shopping. We ended up grabbing dinner at the food court and then went and saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D. It was soooo good! After the movie, we went to Target and then to Krispy Kreme. By the time we got home and they got ready to leave it was 11:30.

Today, I did my typical Sunday routine. I got up and went to church where we had a fantastic service! God truly is amazing and speaks to you right when you need Him most! After church, I went to the parents for our usual Sunday lunch with the family. Mom fixed barbeque porkchops, homemade twice baked potatoes, corn, black eyed peas, rolls, and some of her famous sweet tea! It was a lunch to die for! After we all sat around and caught up on each other's weeks, I left and did my usual Sunday grocery run at Walmart. And yes, I did pick up another one of those soft, long sleeve tees. This time I got the olive green! I can't wait to pair it with my tan Jones New York scarf and my tan boots!
By the time I got home, Kevin was awake. He usually gets up around 2 when he has to work nights so we spent a little time together. He left for work around 5:30 so since then I've been blogging and watching a Cinderella Story. As for the rest of the night, I've got a date with ABC Family and the new Cinderella Story! Can't wait till it comes on at 8!

Hope all of you lovely ladies had a wonderful weekend!
