Back at the beginning of the year, one of my New Year's resolutions was to give our living room a little TLC. After moving into our house five years ago, the living room seemed to be one of our most neglected rooms in the house; despite the fact that it's one of the rooms we use daily. My biggest hurdle in decorating this space was figuring out how to decorate around our dark brown leather furniture. When we purchased our leather sofa set four years ago, we were trying to think ahead and plan for a life filled with animals and kids. Knowing we'd be adding both to our family, we knew cloth furniture was not going to cut it for our main living area. Yet, I never considered how hard it would be to find inspiration for spaces with dark furniture. Because let me tell you ladies, it is! It took me five years to get any sort of inspiration going but I'm happy to report I finally came up with a plan and as of May, this room is pretty much complete. Take a look at it's current state and let me know what you think!
It's pretty much safe to say this room is complete. The only thing that may change in this space is I'm still debating whether or not to give our coffee table and end table a makeover. I'm not loving the oak colored tables now that we have hardwoods in our living room. So I've been thinking of chalk painting the bases of both in a old white color to give them a little brightness. What do you ladies think? Change them up or leave them?
