{Weekend Recap} Harvest Ridge Fun

Ladies.  I can not even begin to tell you how perfect this weekend was. I mean, for real. It was one of those weekends where we soaked up every moment and made it so worthwhile. The weekend was so good, I'm not even dreading today. I'm just that happy.

On Friday, I left work promptly at 3:30. Since we were in desperate need of some basic essentials at home like drinks, snacks, and food for the coming week I met the hubs at the grocery store before heading home. After ending up with a buggy full of groceries, Kevin offered to take them all home and unload them from his car while I ran to pick up Harper from daycare. Best hubby ever. Since I knew I had a few minutes to spare before grabbing Harper at her usual pick up time of 5pm, I ran by and picked up a couple of mums for our front porch. Usually I go all out with our front porch decor but this year, I decided to keep it relatively simple. Mainly for the fact that in less than a month I'll be decorating for Christmas but that's besides the point :P

When Harper and I arrived at home, Kevin had unloaded all of the groceries. There were still a few bags sitting on the counter that needed to be put away so I sent Harper along to play while I finished up. About the time I got done, I heard Harper squealing in excitement and Rimy was going nuts which could only mean one thing... my mother in law had came over. Sure enough, she was waiting at the door with treats for Harper and Rimy in hand. Since no visit is complete without Grandma and Harper riding "Harper's pink car", I knew I had some time to accomplish a few tasks while Harper was with Nana so I set off to decorate our porch and this is what I came up with...excuse the summer doormat. I had to hunt for a fall one this weekend (;

My mother in law ended up keeping Harper occupied long after Kevin left for work which freed me up even more to just take a moment to myself which was so nice. By the time she left to grab dinner with Kevin's grandparents, Harper and I were making our way to meet up with my parents and friend, Brittni, for dinner at one of our usual spots. However, the night was far from usual for three different reasons. The first being, after taking our drink orders, our poor waitress fell right beside our table. She was as embarrassed as could be and I can't blame her as the restaurant was packed and when she hit the floor, the whole place went silent. She said she was fine but there isn't a doubt in my mind, she probably woke up sore as you know what Saturday morning. Secondly, when we headed outside the restaurant after eating and paying, we spotted ambulances, firetrucks, and police cars at the stop light at the corner of the street. Apparently, a car had ran a red light, was hit, and flipped completely over. Needless to say, since it was so close, we had to walk up the sidewalk to check it out. After all, not much excitement happens in a town of less than 15,000 people. Just when I thought the evening couldn't get anymore exciting, as I was pulling out of the parking lot, I happen to spot my mom in my rear view mirror waving me down. I stopped and rolled my window down thinking maybe she had something to give me... yet she informed me my dad's car wouldn't start. ha Again, quite the unusual Friday night.

Saturday morning Harper and I decided to spend our morning at home instead of meeting my parents for breakfast. We slept in and then I whipped Harper and I up some chicken biscuits. While Kevin recovered from a long night of work, Harper and I played our little hearts out in her playroom, read some Halloween books, and watched quite a few episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Paw Patrol.

Once Kevin got up, we all got ourselves ready and then headed out to Harvest Ridge Farm to meet up with some of our good friends/family for some fall fun. While there, we got to ride the giant slide, take several rides on the cow train, jump on the giant jumping pillow, ride the cow train, took a makeshift hay ride around the property, and picked out pumpkins. It was a blast and Harper loved every minute of her time there.

Since Kevin had to go into work after our trip to the farm, we headed over to the in-law's Saturday night for Harper to give Nana and Papa the pumpkin she picked out for them. While there, Kevin's grandma came by and Harper entertained both Memaw and Janet by showing off. Oh the energy of a toddler. ha ha

Sunday morning Harper and I headed to my parents' church for our pastor's last Sunday. Pastor Aaron and Annette have been called to a church in Kansas so we wanted to see them off.

Afterwards, we headed to Mom and Dad's for lunch where we were joined by my aunt, siblings, friend Brittni, and of course Kevin who manages to always wake up just in time for a meal (;

We ended up our Sunday night with dinner at Olive Garden as a family of three. Something that rarely happens.

Unfortunately, Harper was exhausted and ended up sleeping through the meal. I've never seen her fall asleep just sitting up before so last night was a first. I had to snap a picture because it was so funny!

And to top off our evening, we made a Target run (my favorite!). I ended up grabbing a new fall themed door mat and a video game for Kevin for less than the cost of the video game. Have I ever mentioned how much I love couponing at Target? Because I totally do!

Here's to hoping you ladies had a fabulous weekend filled with fall fun. Can't wait to read all about them!

A Fun Trip to Build a Bear

Last month, Kevin and I decided to surprise Harper with a trip to Build a Bear. For her second birthday, Kevin's aunt and uncle gave her a gift card that's been sitting in our dresser since her birthday party. We knew we wanted to wait until Harper was big enough to enjoy the experience and after she's shown a love for her stuffed animals over the last month or so, we knew this was just the right time. And my how we were right!

Harper walked into Build a Bear like she owned the place and acted as if she'd done the whole process a million times. Kevin and I couldn't help but get tickled at her excitement. Just look at all the pictures!

Here's to our next trip... Which in not gonna lie... I hope is very soon!
