{Weekend Recap} A Much Better Weekend

Well girls that weekend sure did fly by quickly. Here we are at yet another new Monday; and another new month at that. I'm so looking forward to this month and some of the fun and exciting things June is going to bring. In just two weeks, I'll be ending another school year and saying farewell to twenty precious faces that I've grown to love and adore over the course of this school year. As much as I'll miss all of those little guys and gals, I'm not going to lie and say I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to early mornings, days in the classroom, and nights spent grading papers; and instead be saying hello to long mornings in my bed, lazy days by the pool, and nights spent curled up on the couch with my little family or some quiet time with a book. Bring it on June. I can't wait to spend time with you.

Now on to our weekend recap. This weekend went so much better than our previous one. If you didn't catch what happened, you can read all about it here. Nothing too exciting took place this weekend and that was okay with this mama considering all that went down this past week. Low key was just what this family needed.

Having not worked most of last week, I opted to stay at work late Friday evening to catch up on all the paperwork that was sitting on my desk. I ended up leaving sometime around 5:30 and when I walked out, my car was the only one in the parking lot. That hasn't happened in months but it felt so good to leave knowing that when I walked in this morning, I'd have nothing waiting for me to do. A clean slate is always the best way to start a Monday. Whose with me?

After leaving work, I decided to swing by a local shoe store to return some shoes I'd purchased back in the winter that I decided I no longer liked. Thankfully their return policy was awesome and I was able to exchange a pair of boots for these precious navy and gold Jack Rogers look-a-likes and these adorable tribal sandals. I've already rocked both of them this weekend and they are both super comfy and for less than $25 each, you ladies need to snatch up some before they get gone! I predict that I'll find myself there later this week snatching both up in additional colors :P

We ended our Friday night with the usual dinner with my parents and friend, Brittni. Before calling it a night, we swung by Lowes to pick out grout for our bathroom floor remodel. Thirty minutes later, we walked out with three color swatches and a headache. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has a hard time making home project decisions...

Saturday we all slept in and then spent the remainder of our morning and early afternoon laying around on the couch and watching cartoons. I'd like to say we did something somewhat productive but unless you consider Harper opening her remaining birthday gifts productive, then I can't say we did. But around 2 we finally got our rear ends in gear and headed to Harper's daycare for the annual preschool graduation. Our niece was graduating and Harper's 2 year old class was participating in the ceremony. Sadly, Harper saw me as she was walking in the church sanctuary with her class and that was the end of it. The only song she sang on stage was that of "Mama, mama". But hey, at least the crowd got a kick out of it (; Better luck next year!

Since Kevin had to head into work after the graduation ceremonies were over, Harper and I headed to Greensboro with my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and his girlfriend, Brooke. We headed to Sam's Club to grab a few things, then returned something to Hobby Lobby, and then made our way to our favorite hamburger joint. I can't say enough good things about Burger Warfare for any of you locals who read my little corner of the internet. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is awesome, and the prices can't be beat! I'd eat there every week if Kevin would let me.

Sunday morning I woke up with all intentions of heading to church. I woke up, got myself ready,  and waited for Harper to wake up to do the same. But as the clock kept ticking and Harper kept snoozing, I realized church wasn't going to happen for us so I changed into some more comfortable clothes around 11 and let our little girl continue to catch up on rest. And catch up on rest she did. That crazy cutie didn't wake up until 11:45 and that's only because I headed into her room to make sure she was still alive! Poor girl still hasn't quite gotten all of her energy back from being sick...

For lunch we headed over to my parents' house to eat with Mom and Dad and the rest of the family. Before we could leave, Harper had to head outside with Papa to feed the birds; something she insists on doing every time we stop by.

The rest of our evening was spent removing curtains, clearing off shelves, and packing up rooms on our first floor so that our contractor can start working on our floors today! Whoop whoop! Hello, #holthousereno! Check instagram tonight for a sneak peek :P

Our new floors. Can't wait to see these babies go down!

Happy Monday, my friends!
