{Weekend Recap} Painting Nurseries & Car Shows

Can we just pause for a moment and take notice that for once, I'm actually posting our weekend recap on a MONDAY?! Whoa. I can't even tell you how that happened. But it did and I'm here a whole day earlier than usual. Maybe I'll have more posts for you this week...maybe not.  I probably shouldn't get too far ahead of myself. But without further ado, here's how our weekend went down.

On Friday, I headed over to our friend Joey and Jennifer's house for the day. Joey and Jennifer just closed on their new house a few weeks ago and have been doing some painting over the last week in preparation for their actual move in that took place this weekend. When I found out earlier in the week that Jennifer, whose seven months pregnant, had been painting her little heart out, I volunteered to come help paint their daughter's nursery. So while Joey worked and Kevin slept in preparation for a long night at work, Jennifer and I chatted, reminisced, and painted the afternoon away in little Hensley's room.

Friday night, Harper and I headed downtown with my friend Brittni to meet up with my parents for our town's monthly cruise in. We spent the evening walking around downtown, catching up with people we ran into, and looking at classic cars. I'm sure in most people's books that doesn't sound at all like fun, but in our small town, we love it!

& please check out this hot rod school bus that happened to be there. I'd have totally rode a school bus if they looked like that back in the day (;

Saturday morning Harper and I slept in which meant we just barely made breakfast with my parents at our favorite diner. We certainly cut it close but on the bright side, since Mom and Dad were nearly done with breakfast by the time we arrived, that meant I got to eat in peace since Mom took over making sure Harper got the majority of the food in her mouth instead of her lap. Which I have to say, was a nice change. You mamas know what I'm talking about.

The rest of our Saturday was spent at home. We laid around the house watching Mickey and Paw Patrol. I whipped up some corn dogs and fries for lunch. Then Harper and I joined Kevin in bed for nap time. I'd like to say I did something productive on Saturday but our five loads of laundry remained untouched, our dishes didn't get washed, and there was still dirt on the floors.

Sunday Harper and I rolled out of bed pretty early. I whipped up some waffles and then we headed out to church with the family.

When church was over, we headed to my parents house with Brittni for the usual lunch. Since it was so hot Mom whipped up some chicken salads and offered each of us a large helping of freshly baked apple pie. Yum.

We finished off the weekend as a family at Kevin's aunt and uncle's house. They live about a mile from our house and just had a new pool installed. It's safe to say, we'll be spending quite a few afternoons there in our near future (; Even Rimy tagged along and loved it!

Hope you all had fantastic weekends. See you tomorrow ladies!

  11. Sounds like you had a great weekend! I wouldn't have hated the bus so badly if mine was that cool! They have a "cruise in" where I'm from once a month, and it is the neatest thing.
