{Confessional Thursday} A Bunch of Randomness

It's Thursday which means it's time for a good 'ole fashion confession session. Since it's been so long since I've been around here, I have so many things to talk about but I'll try to narrow it down a little and save some for another time. But regardless, buckle up and get ready for a whole lot of random.

I confess...

>> I cried not once, not twice, but three times yesterday after the fact that my child has started regressing in the potty training department. We started potty training about three weeks ago and it took Harper a good week of afternoons and/or mornings at home to get the hang of it. But last week she did phenomenal. We ventured out and about, did some shopping, headed out to grab lunch and dinner, and not an accident was had. And yet yesterday,  she had accident after accident after accident. The thought of starting all of this over has me so frustrated. I've prayed and prayed it was just an off day.

>> I can't tell you the last time I saw a television show other than Paw Patrol, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, or Sheriff Callie. My DVR is quickly running out of space and at this point I'm fairly certain it'll be Christmas before I catch up on all I have recorded.

>> I've got photos dating all the way back to the spring of 2015 that I keep meaning to upload to Facebook but haven't. I figure I'll get around to it at some point but considering my iphone keeps telling me my storage is almost full, I gather it'll need to be soon.

>> We've made approximately a gazillion cupcakes for our business and honestly, I'm not sure I've tried more than 5 of them. I'm pretty sure that makes me a bad baker but I trust the opinions of those around me.

>> I start my Christmas shopping every year in July due to Target marking all of their toys on clearance to bring in the new ones. That also means my children's Christmas lists are done and we've already started making purchases... including this Power Wheels Thomas the Train and Track Set for the little man.

>> Mail is my biggest pet peeve. We have a basket that sits directly next to our door that's meant to be our mail catch all but for some reason, it rarely makes it to the basket and ends up on the kitchen table one day and the kitchen island the next. Until eventually  it feels like it's taking over my kitchen.

>> A few weeks ago I decided to order the kids Pottery Barn Anywhere Chairs and I seriously deliberated over what colors to order for two solid days. I couldn't decide whether or not to have the chairs match our living rooms (where they'll be at first) or have them match their bedrooms where we'll eventually move them too. In the end, the living room won.. but thankfully the colors I chose will coordinate with their rooms too!

>>  I've been eyeing these shoes for a month now after my coworker wore them one day. They're the perfect Tory Burch knock offs for less than half the price but I just can't pull the trigger on a sandal that pricey that I really don't need.
Well that's all the random I've got for this Thursday. Be sure to grab the button above and link up with some great ladies.

{Five on Friday} A Make Up Must Have + A Trip Disney World

{ONE} A Make Up Must Have
Y'all... You have GOT to try the Make Up Eraser if you haven't. A few months ago I stumbled across a blogger's review of this product and decided to give it a try. The Make Up Eraser is basically a microfiber cloth that only requires water to be added to wipe away all of your makeup, dirt, and grime from a busy day. I was a bit skeptical at first but after reading product reviews on Amazon, Ulta, and Sephora, I decided to give it a go and I'm so glad I did. I wear waterproof makeup on the daily and I don't know what it is about this cloth but a quick rinse under the faucet and a swipe on the face and all of my make up is gone in an instant. It's amazing. For $20 do yourself a favor and go try it out for yourself! You won't regret it!

{TWO} Recent Purchases + Reviews
After having two babies my body is definitely not the same as it used to be which has led me to spend many a morning trying to figure out what in the world I wanted to wear each day. Feeling like I have absolutely no clothes to wear, I decided to treat myself to a few new things over the last few weeks to make me feel prettier and a bit more confident in my outfit choices. Here's a few of the things I've recently added to my somewhat limited wardrobe... all of which came from Jane.com; one of the best online boutiques out there! The mint green dress arrived last week and I was a bit disappointed that the color was more sage green than mint but the soft material and flattering fit made up for the difference. The yellow shirt arrived this week and I tossed it on and wore it to work on Wednesday. The fit was perfect for people of all body types and I got so many compliments on it that I'm fairly certain I'll be purchasing it in other colors; especially since it was less than $15!

{THREE} Disney, We're Coming for Ya
It's official! We're heading to Disney come November. We'll be going with my sister and her family, Kevin's parents, and my best friend Brittni and we couldn't be more excited. We booked a room at Disney's Pop Century and we have plans to do dinner at Ohana's, Hollywood & Vine, Whispering Canyon, ESPN Grille, T-Rex Cafe, Chef Mickey, & Be Our Guest. If you have other restaurant suggestions, please let me know! And if you have tips for flying and/or doing Disney with babies and toddlers, please share.

{FOUR} Our Little Mermaid
Harper started swimming lessons a few weeks ago and to say she's been in heaven since would be an understatement. I'm fairly certain if mermaids were a real thing, she'd turn into one. Just look at all of her excitement!

Confessional Thursday

I confess...

Since Boston made his debut, I just don't have time to sit down and blog like I want to. I pull out my computer each morning and as soon as I start to blog, he inevitably needs something.

Since I haven't been able to blog, I've yet to finish his birth story even though I posted part 1 three whole weeks ago. Don't even get me started on his first month post. #momfail

This morning I woke up at 1 am and couldn't go back to sleep so I spent two hours shopping online. My bank account is telling me I should have taken some sleeping pills.

Kevin and I ordered a car a month ago, for the second time, and when it arrived it wasn't what we ordered. Also for the second time. So Monday the dealership called saying they'd gotten Kevin what he wanted and it would arrive yesterday at lunch. Only when it arrived, it also wasn't what they had ordered. I'm starting to think Kevin's not meant to have this vehicle.

I'm in that awkward postpartum stage where the clothes I wore during my pregnancy are too big and my pre-pregnancy clothes are too small which means I'm living in yoga pants each day and I'm not hating it.

I'm loving the tribal print vibes and I pulled the trigger on this beauty last week. It arrives today and I can't be more excited to rock it to an upcoming baby shower.

Two of my best friends are having babies and I think I am obsessed with buying for their little guys as I am buying for my own. Their showers better hurry up or Kevin is going to kill me.

We went to the beach this past weekend and I refused to leave before my entire house was clean and all the laundry was done. I absolutely refuse to return from a relaxing vacation knowing I have work to do. Please tell me I'm not the only one who is OCD about this...

And with that, that's all I have today ladies! If you want to join in on the fun, pop over to Jessica's blog and link up!

Confessional Thursday

I confess...

I'm in serious nesting mode despite that my pregnancy is over. Maybe it's spring fever?

I have an addiction to HGTV's Fixer Upper. I'm pretty sure Joanna Gaines and I could be best friends. And for real, how cute are her and Chip? Their fun and flirty relationship inspires me to do better at loosening up and having fun in my own marriage with every episode I watch!

Speaking of Fixer Upper, I've totally binged watched the entire third season in less than 24 hours. As a result, I'm contemplating where I can add shiplap in my home. Kevin says I have a problem. haha

Last Tuesday, we purchased a new SUV. Like signed papers, got a loan, and everything. Here's the kicker... we haven't even seen it yet. It's coming straight from the factory as a custom order and all I can say is... it better be what the hubs wanted.

Now that Boston has arrived, I'm dying to go shopping! I want these pants in every. single. color. If you don't have any of these pants, do yourself a favor and go get a pair... like NOW! For just barely over $20 a pair, you can't beat the price and they are so flippin' comfortable. You'll thank me later, I promise.

Since Boston arrived, I have treated myself to a few new items to help make myself feel a little bit better about my new body shape. I grabbed this adorable striped elephant shirt, this precious striped shirt dress (it's cuter on than it is on the model!), and this adorable white with black stripes piko. I've yet to wear any of these items but as soon as I do, I'll let ya know what I think!

I'm dying to see the Bachelor on Monday. The previews have me questioning who he is going to choose and if he's in fact going to send one girl home and then call her back because he realized he made a mistake?! What do you ladies think?!

And with that I'm done ladies! Be sure to pop over to Jess' blog and join today's link up!

{Confessions} Pregnancy Edition

Let me preface this post by saying that I am so, so, so very thrilled that my lovely friend Jessica over at The Newly has started a weekly link up for confessions. Because let's be real, us gals always need the opportunity to get a few things off of our chest. I mean, who doesn't? So without further ado, let's get this 'fess session started.

I confess...

{1} That despite the fact I'm ready to meet our little guy, I secretly wish he'd hang in there a bit longer. I'm sort of dreading the long nights with a newborn and even longer days with a toddler who isn't going to be too appreciative of our newest family addition.

{2} I've yet to install Boston's car seat in mine or Kevin's car. I keep telling myself a family member can bring it to us if he comes early.

{3} Same goes for our hospital bags. I have things laid out at random places in the house and all my toiletries are packed in my make up bag but I've yet to put everything in a suitcase. But again, I keep telling myself someone else can throw it in a bag and bring it to the hospital if need be. That's what best friends are for and all (;

{4} I had a minor meltdown over the fact that Kevin is going to be working non stop the next few weeks and I've yet to clean out Boston's closet which means we still have baby shower gifts sitting in our living room. Will they still be there when Boston gets here? Probably. Because, you know, toddlers don't allow for time to clean out closets.

{5} It seems that when you're pregnant and already walking a thin line of mental breakdown everything can go wrong. Our dryer isn't working right, Kevin went to the doctor thinking he may need back surgery, and we may/may not have a major leak in the main drain on our second floor. I'm almost afraid to ask if anything else might go wrong this week...

{6} I confess that as excited as I was to wear regular clothes this entire pregnancy, I'm starting to hate my pikos, leggings, and tunics that I have in rotation as much as I hated my maternity clothes with Harper. They may just have to go in a donate pile when all is said and done. But we'll see.

{7} Since I'm starting to resent my current wardrobe, I have my eyes on a few new pretties. I already pulled the trigger on this pretty pale pink number and I'm currently debating tossing this lace beauty in my cart as well.

{8} I've downloaded about 20 books onto my kindle and haven't started a single one in hopes that I can find time to read them during my time at the hospital and during my maternity leave. Is that wrong?

{9} Blame it on pregnancy but I finally grew a backbone and may or may not have been a bit rude to a seller on ETSY. Three weeks ago, I paid for a custom order to have the most adorable onesie and hat made for Boston and a coordinating shirt and matching monogrammed hair bow for Harper. My intention was to have the two of them sport their new shirts and accessories during our fresh 48 session at the hospital. When I requested my order, the lady assured me she could have it done in 4 days. Fast forward 2 weeks later and it's yet to ship and she hasn't responded to my four emails. By the fifth one I was so ill I reported her to ETSY. Now I'm in limbo as to what to do about their outfits...Do I find someone to make one and risk it not being here in time or just pick out another outfit that isn't half as cute... Womp, womp, womp.

And that's all I have for today. I tried to round it out to ten things but you know... pregnancy brain and all has my mind all messed up (;

See you ladies tomorrow for our usual Five on Friday!

{Friday Link Ups} A Week of Fun & Upcoming Events

Happy Friday, friends! This week seemed to get away from us here in the Holt household. Yet again, I left this little spot behind but for good reason. Starting this past Tuesday, Kevin has 12 days off. Yes, 12 straight, glorious days! Since these moments are so rare we have been soaking them up!! I figure since I've left you ladies out of the loop, I'll fill you in today during our usual Friday Five. So here goes...

1} Monday
On Monday, I let Harper help me bake for the very first time. Despite spilling a cup of oil all over the kitchen island, she did great. She was all upset and kept saying, "Harper made a mess"but her expression was so cute I couldn't help but laugh at her which ended up making her smile. Now I just pray she doesn't dump another cup of oil on the counter in the future since she thinks its funny...

2} Tuesday
My brother-in-law's girlfriend, Brooke, was celebrating her birthday on Tuesday so we spent the afternoon at the nail salon getting mani's and pedi's.

We kick started Kevin's vacation with dinner at our favorite steak house, Texas Roadhouse. It happened to be Kid's Night so Harper was delighted to receive a balloon animal of her choice, along with her free kid's meal (happy parents!). Needless to say, she chose a dog. Three days later, it's pretty much deflated but Harper asks for her "pink doggy" every time she gets in the car.

3} Wednesday
I went to see Trainwreck with my friend Brittni Wednesday afternoon while Kevin headed to the gym. It was absolutely hilarious. I recommend it to anyone that needs a laugh. To end our Wednesday evening, we spent the evening by the pool with the entire family. So much fun!

4} Thursday
One of the restaurants in a nearby town hosts a kids' night every Thursday night in the summer. Each Thursday, they have different characters at the restaurant, a dj to play kids' jams, and even kids karaoke. Since this week the characters that were perusing the restaurant were Mickey and Minnie, Harper's all time favorite, we decided to surprise her with a visit. I'm not sure if I've ever seen her so happy. The entire time we ate dinner she couldn't keep her eyes off the characters making their rounds. I'm pretty sure she high-fived them fifty different times (;

5} The Next Few Days...
Today is my handsome hubby's 32nd birthday! Unfortunately, I'll be heading out of town come lunch time to attend one of my lifetime best friend's wedding which means there will be no celebrating today. But no fear, as soon as Olivia's wedding is over, we'll be making our way to the beach for the Holt family's annual beach trip so we'll be celebrating at a restaurant of Kevin's choice one day next week. (Side note: I don't necessarily advertise that I won't be in town but since my neighbor's are sheriff deputies and will be keeping an eye out and we'll be having people at our house with our dog, I don't mind throwing it out there)

Hope you ladies had a great week! I'll see you when I return but don't you worry ladies, I've got a few wonderful ladies lined up to take over this space next week so be sure to check back!

{Friday Link Ups} Holt Family Staycations & Holiday Sales

Happy Friday, girls! As mentioned last Friday, Kevin was off all last week and the majority of this week so we enjoyed a little staycation here in NC. Over the last ten days or so, we have soaked up Kevin's time at home and have filled our days with as much fun as possible. Since I've been a little MIA this week and last, I thought I'd give you a little run down of how we have spent our staycation! If you missed my weekend recap, you can check it out here. It's pretty much the introduction to this post...

{1} Tweetsie Railroad
On Monday, Kevin, Harper, and I headed to Boone, NC with my in-laws to take Harper to Tweetsie Railroad. I haven't been since I was a kid so I wasn't quite sure of what to expect when we arrived. But all I can say is it met every single expectation I ever had and Harper loved every minute of our time there. I have a full post recapping our trip lined up for next week, but until then, I'll share just a few pictures from our amazing day!

{2} Day Dates
On Tuesday, after dropping Harper off at daycare, Kevin and I had another little day date. We started off our morning with breakfast at PG's; a local breakfast spot that we like to frequent. Afterwards we headed home to get ready to head to Greensboro. We ended up heading to the movies to see Max. I give it two thumbs up but be sure to carry some Kleenex with you. I cried from the beginning to the end! To finish up our little day date, we grabbed a late lunch at Steak and Shake, picked up some doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, and made a Target run. Could there be another more perfect ending to a day date?!

{3} Girls' Night
Since Kevin was off, he graciously volunteered to watch Harper Tuesday night so I could get in some quality time with my favorite girls. So on Tuesday night after a quick dinner, me and my friends Brittni and Brooke headed to the movies to catch the new Magic Mike movie. I'd like to say it was great but I was a little disappointed. But I won't say don't go see it. Channing Tatum will still make it worth it (;

{4} A Long, Overdue Play Date
Yesterday, Harper and I headed to High Point, NC to meet up with my friend Brenda, who blogs at Triple Braided Life, and her daughter, Ella Grace for a little play date. We spent the majority of our morning at their house and didn't end up leaving until shortly after lunch. Watching Harper and Ella Grace play together made me long for the day we have another little member in the Holt family. As much as I'd love to have a child of each sex, having another little girl for Harper to grow up and be best friends with would definitely not disappoint this little mama.

{5} Fourth of July Sales
It's no secret that I love holidays. Holidays rock for two reasons. The first being they provide an excuse to get together with friends and family and bond over food. The second being that they always bring great sales. And can I just say ladies, I have racked up on the sales this week thanks to Old Navy's 40% off sale. I ended up grabbing five dresses from Old Navy for less than $75! I mean seriously! I fell in love with this dress in the store and ended up ordering it online in three different colors (black, flaming tulip, and the white/black stripe for those of you wondering)! I also snatched up this little number in cobalt blue (which happens to now be sold out) and grabbed up another coral dress for just $9! Unfortunately, it's also sold out. But if you haven't caught Old Navy's bombshell of a sale, hop over there now! Use code goldmine for 40% off and free shipping for orders over $25!

{Friday Link Ups} Staycations + Disney Cruises

Happy Friday, yall! Let me begin by saying I was blown away by all of your sweet words concerning our patio makeover reveal that I shared on the blog Wednesday. You ladies sure do know how to make a girl's day! If you missed that reveal, you can see it here. You can also read about our Father's Day weekend; as well as catch up on 20 random facts that you may not have known about me that I shared yesterday. But back to today's post. As per the usual, I've got five little things from this week....

{1} Our Little Writer
One of Harper's favorite things to do each day is to write everyone's name. I spend an hour each day sitting at her little table in the playroom, writing everyone's name as she calls them out to me. Each day we have to write Nana, Dada, Mama, Hutson, Rimy, etc in a variety of different colors. But hands down, her favorite name to write is Papa. So on Sunday, as we were sitting in church, it came as no surprise when Harper spotted a tithing envelope and pencil that she wanted me to use to write Papa's name. Not wanting to waste a tithing envelope, I grabbed the Sunday bulletin and flipped to the inside to write Papa's name as Harper requested. Satisfied, Harper took the pencil and paper and wandered about her little way on the back pew. And then a few minutes later, she came over to me with that same bulletin. With a big smile on her face, she pointed to some scribble scrabble at the bottom of the bulletin and said "Papa". And then I had to do a double take because in her own little way, I could totally point out her p and a at the end of the drawing! Guess all of that writing, she's finally picking up on it herself!

{2} My Nephew, the Driver
On Monday, after taking Harper to daycare, I headed to my sister's house to accompany my nephew to get his driver's license. Needless to say he passed. My sister told me to update her when he finished and so I sent her the following picture, accompanied with the text, "He passed. Apparently, they'll give anyone a license these days." But seriously, his driving skills surprised me. We'll see how long the ten and two lasts now that he won't have an adult in the car (;

{3} Some Food for Thought
I came across this quote this week while scrolling through facebook. A lady from church had shared it among other things but for some reason, I kept being drawn back to this quote over and over. Throughout my week, this quote has popped back into my mind numerous times and each time one thought comes to mind. If our mind was completely consumed with Jesus, what could our lives be like?

{4} A Much-Needed Staycation
The hubs has been off this week and will be off for part of next week. Having him home has been absolutely wonderful. When Kevin decided to take a vacation this week, we had discussed going away for a few days but after talking it over, we decided since we're never hardly home as a family, a vacation could wait and we'd enjoy a staycation instead. And enjoy a staycation we have! Since Harper is still in daycare, Kevin and I have spent our days together as just a couple and it has felt so good to have some time with just him. We've spent our days grabbing breakfast and lunch, hanging out on the couch, and lounging at the pool. In the evenings, we've enjoyed our time as a family of three and Harper couldn't be more excited about having Daddy at home!

{5} Disney Cruises
Last weekend, I started discussing taking a Disney cruise vacation with my friend Stacey over at Loving Life and Learning Lots. Stacey is married to Kevin's best friend and together they have two sons, Elijah who turns 5 next week and Griffin who is 2. Since the kids are still a tad bit too young for Disney World, we talked a while back about taking them on a Disney cruise so that they could still experience the characters and environment whilst not having to measure them on every ride! haha We've been looking at our calendars and discussing dates but nothing has been set in stone yet. Since Stacey and I are both teachers, we know we'll have to go during a week when we already have a few days off. Which means currently we're looking into November and January. That being said, the only cruises available are those to the Bahamas. Have any of you ladies traveled to the Bahamas with Disney? My sister and her family has and she gave great reviews but I'd love to hear others input. If you haven't gone to the Bahamas with Disney, have you gone any where else? How was your experience? Any must haves and must do's?

{Friday Link Ups} School's Out, Snakes, & Summer Gift Buckets!

1} This Week's Posts
If you didn't catch any of my posts from this week, I blogged about our weekend, our trip to Charleston & Myrtle Beach, as well as shared our plans for our porch makeover. You can click on the links to read all about them if you missed them!

2} School is Out!
Today is my last official day of school. As of 12:15 today, I'll say goodbye to my precious third grade babies for the last time. Over the last 178 days, I've grown to love each and every one of those little guys and gals like my own. Despite how happy I am that summer has officially arrived for me and my little family, I'm a bit sad to see all of my babies go. But I know they're all going to continue to learn and grow up to do great things!

3} Christmas Shopping Bargains
If you caught my last confession post, I shared Harper's Christmas list we've been working on over the last month or so. I know it seems pretty early to think about Christmas lists but when we have so many people to buy for, it helps to spread out the purchases throughout the year. Lucky for me, I had a general idea of what I wanted to get Harper. That paid off because just this week I was able to buy Harper both this Pottery Barn doll high chair and cradle for a grand total of $65! Which still happens to be less than just one of those items. It pays to shop early my friends! If you don't believe it, you should try it. Come Christmas those sorts of bargains won't be around!

4} Snakes
Earlier this week, I got a text at work from Kevin saying we had a major problem at the house. Considering Kevin is pretty laid back and nothing is ever a major problem to him, I was immediately concerned. When I asked what was wrong, I couldn't happen but to laugh at his response. There's a big (inappropriate word) snake in the garage! My first thought... thank God it's not me! haha Kevin not being a big fan of snakes was not about to get near it so he called my dad to come over and help kill it. As Kevin waited for my dad to arrive, he stood in front of the area the snake had taken refuge in. Thirty minutes later my dad arrived with a hoe in hand. Yet, when they moved all the things the snake was behind, he was no longer there. Kevin has no idea how that happened as he never saw him escape. They tore our garage all to pieces looking for the thing but in the end, still ended up without finding him. All I can say is I hope he's long gone. On our walk yesterday I saw another snake dead and I can only hope that was him!

5} Summertime Bucket
As the school year has been coming to an end, I've been seeing many of my instagram friends have been creating summer gift buckets for their children. I think this is such a cute idea and am considering creating Harper a little summer bucket of her own. I was thinking of getting a sand pail and filling it with pool goodies, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc. Any thoughts on things to add friends? Do you ladies do this for your kids? If so, I'd love to see pictures and get your feedback!

{Friday Link Ups} Swimming Lessons, Anniversary Recap, & Gift Wrap Organization

Happy Friday, girls! I am so looking forward to an extra long weekend. One of the perks to being a teacher (; After a fairly busy week, I'm looking forward to some extra time at home with my little family, tackling a few small projects, and doing a little lot of spring cleaning.  But I'll save all of that for next Monday, let's just stick with today's topic at hand... Five on Friday (:

1} Swimming Lessons
This week Harper started swimming lessons. My brother-in-law's girlfriend, Brooke, is a lifeguard and since Harper is very comfortable with her, we asked her if she'd be willing to teach Harper the ropes. She of course, answered yes, and we started lessons that day! Having not been in the pool since last year, Harper was a bit skiddish but thanks to a waterproof ball and some gentle nudging from my mother-in-law, Harper managed to eventually get in the pool and enjoy herself.

2} Anniversary Traditions
Every year on our anniversary, Kevin and I head out to Jaycee Park, the place we met, to take a photo. Over the last four years, this has been my absolute favorite anniversary tradition. I love having each of these photos to see how much we've changed.

3} Anniversary Celebrations
Yesterday, Kevin and I celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary. Brooke and Bryan volunteered to watch Harper for the evening so Kevin and I could enjoy a night out together. Our initial plan was to go to dinner and then head to Celebration Station where we could act like total immature kids and play games and compete at a round of putt putt. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans for us so instead of a game night, we made our way to the movies to watch Pitch Perfect 2. If you haven't seen it yet, go NOW! After the movie, we headed to Sapparo, a local Japanese restaurant, for dinner. And as always, we ended our date night with a Target run. I'd like to say I picked up some awesome goodies but this time we limited our trip to groceries (; lol

4} Gift Wrap Organization
I don't know about you mama's but I have so many gift bags, tissue paper, and rolls of wrapping paper than I know what to do about. Currently all of it is stuck in a massive storage tub out in our garage that takes up most of the space in the bottom of our outdoor closet. Since I'm going to be needing that space very soon, I decided to look into some different storage options and came across this lovely idea of using a ClosetMaid wall organizer. Does anyone else have one of these for your gift wrapping items? Or do you use a different storage method? Please let me know before I drowned in wedding, baby, and holiday bags...

5} Harper
I snapped this picture of Harper this week. Whenever someone talks to Harper these days, she's started propping her head up on her hands and it's just the cutest thing .

Hope you ladies have a great weekend!
